Software for 2011-2012: Email from Jeff C
UA Teachers, In an effort to improve our yearly imaging process we are implementing a new method to distribute our various software packages. We are going to implement a new product called FileWave. Filewave allows us to turn any piece of software into a package (like an app in various app stores). From there we associate the various computers with the package and it installs the software automatically. What this means for you as an end user is: · This should be the last year of district wide reimaging over the summer · Filewave will handle all software updates. You won’t receive any update notifications any more · All software installs have to be coordinated through the technology department What we need from you is to review the list of software in the document attached. If you do not see specific software that is needed in your classroom or lab, please log into the help desk and under software is a request type “Software request (For 2012 School year)”. Submit a new ticket explaining the software you have had in the past, still need/want and do not see on our software list. Once the ticket is submitted we will work with you to verify the correct licensing and software location and build a package for it. This is not a method of requesting new software, only existing.

Tech Team Name Change: "21st Century Learning Team"
Andrea proposes changing the name of the "Tech Team" to the "21st Century Learning Team" at Barrington (or something more creative:). The Tech Team makes so many decisions that impact areas that are much deeper than just technology at Barrington. For example - Ed Tech funds for collaboration and unit building for Complex thinking, Backward design and the Workshop model. Technology doesn't seem to be the goal....teachers at Barrington are looking at the skills first then finding the technology that best supports the learning in the classroom. We are also planning and preparing our classrooms for the 21st Century. What do our kiddos need to be successful?
